Spiders are an extremely important part of the ecosystem, and play a vital role in the food chain acting as a natural pest control and reducing our need for chemical pesticides. Spiders are a very underrated invertabrate, and there are so many species that we truly don't know the status of as they are understudied on the whole (and so many are very tiny!!). There are however, certain key species that are endangered like the Spruce-fir moss spider of the southern Appalachian mountains, or the Kaua'i Cave wolf spider of Hawaii.
Spiders face so many threats today with our increased use of chemical pesticides, habitat loss, and even the pet trade for the cool looking ones.
