Fireflies are unfortunately vanishing into thin air. Their lights have been no match for the light pollution we create every day and every night, and with their lights being the main form of communication to each other, they cannot find each other, cannot reproduce, and cannot carryon for another generation. We want to share this little-known issue with everyone, that fireflies are important and we can do something to help them! Turn off outdoor lights on your house at night, and let our firefly friends glow on!
Polar bears are iconic to the Arctic, and while they are at the top of the food chain, face many threats today. Polar bears are in Vulnerable status, and their numbers are projected to decline by 30% by the year 2050. While polar bears used to face decline due to hunting back in the 1700's, today they face lessening numbers because of the significant loss of ice due to global warming. As we watch arctic ice vanish before our eyes, polar bears and other animals that rely on that ice as part of their land area will be forced into smaller and smaller land masses, or be pushed into human- dwelling areas.
